Children’s Innocence Day is a special time of the year and makes up an important part of the Hatillo Masks Festival.
Description:
Since 1823, when Hatillo was first founded, the inhabitants have been celebrating the Hatillo Masks Festival, which also incorporates the special event ‘Children’s Innocence Day’, dedicated to all the little children.
This occasion was created as a representation of the biblical account recorded when King Herod ordered the death of all infant boys in his vile attempt to destroy the future King, Jesus Christ.
However, unlike the account, the young children are celebrated through this intriguing Masks Festival where music, activities and local delicacies are provided with them solely in mind.
